… which basically said there’s no such thing.

eg acai berries, chia seed, pomegranete all cleverly marketed but nothing special that makes them any better that just having a decent well balanced diet. Really interesting.

    Interesting.

    Well… of course.

If a food was ‘super’ it wouldn’t be food, it would be a pharmaceutical. Superfood marketing is exceptionally crafty. Something will be marketed as say being ‘an excellent source of antioxidants’ but nowhere on the packet or in a advert will any claim be made as to what antioxidants may or may not do. Thats because claims made in advertising and food labelling actually have to be supported by facts. What the nutrionism industry does is then make health claims about antioxidants via press releases (or even by having ex-employees working as journalists). A piece of ‘news’ has no such requirement to be factual, so you just use the news columns in between the adverts to say anything you like about why antioxidants are ‘excellent’ without scrutiny

Well any food contains a quantity of nutrients, its a question of which ones are currently fashionable. Onions are nice a sugary for instance – mmm, sugary energy – thats quite voguish isn’t it? 🙂

And the batter on onion rings is an excellent source of wheat
