My tribute may have had a slightly overly vague title……

Certainly a sad day, but produced some life growing up music memories.. and a prolific producer too.. whoda thunk he produced China Crisis in the 80’s too.

He was one hell of a dude. Semi-inheritance stuff for me in that it was my buddy’s quite older brother who used to play Steely Dan LPs on their Technics HiFi separates system – which was one of the goddamn coolest things in the neighbourhood. So, yeah, only something I appreciated properly years later.

Anyone that can come up with the song title Any Major Dude Will Tell You deserves our respect. 🙂

Oh and Haitian Divorce is a work of genius. As are many more of their songs.

Oh damn, first I’ve heard of this. 🙁
One of the most intelligent bands ever, in terms of their lyrical as well as musical complexity. Aja has been one of my all-time favourite albums since it was released, but I’ve never grown tired of listening to the Dan.
RIP Walter, you were a major dude.

A lovely tribute from Ricky Lee Jones, I hadn’t realised Walter had produced her album Flying Cowboys, and she supported Steely Dan as well.

Very sad, Steely Dan are a band I have come to really appreciate as I have got old.
