I’ve just bought my first van I’ve found insurance to be very costly, however my boss at work has offered to insure it as a part of his fleet policy.

Would there be any problems with this if i am the owner of the van but insured as a part of the company fleet policy which should be cheaper?

    Any advice appreciated

No idea, but had the same problem, in the end NFU were the best bet. As mines a van not a camper they were hideously expensive.

    Mines was never that expensive

Most main companies let you have a van insured as a personal vehicle these days.

My new ones 3 times the size and. A camper so it’s about half the price

quotes I’ve had were for around 2,500 for my transit, which why it seemed an option to let boss insure on the company fleet policy, i just wanted to be sure it would be valid to be insured by the company but in my name on the v5

What will you be using it for? We’ve previously been with Hastings, now with Admiral. It’s SDP and commuting. It’s easier to get if you don’t include the commuting bit. We don’t use it for any commercial purposes

Brentacre – my t5 with a remap, full camper conversion, stereo upgrade, retrim, wheels, air suspension etc. 400 quid a year and that allows me to do any cosmetic mods I want.

Yup van insurance is more expensive than your average car. When you say it’s for social domestic and pleasure, it’s met with silence and a long pause.

Some of the comparison sites did quotes that included carry tools to and from work, but not carrying stock. Designed for tradesmen

Aviva, £200ish SDP & Business but no dangerous stuff in transit, T5 with alloys, chrome bars, windows, kombi conversion, spoiler, etc. Specialists and go compare the confused meerkat were a waste of time. I’ve stayed with Aviva for the last 3 renewals….previously unheard of! 😆

Got my first van this year and had no NCB. £600 fully comp with the hope that it will go down next year…..(fingers crossed)

    Shop around a bit more.

Insurer won’t have it if you’re the owner and keeper and its on the works fleet policy, the boss would have to buy it off you.

£800 isn’t bad in the grand scheme of things, it’ll come down in future if you’ve got no NCD too.

My Peugeot pàrtner van was 300 still double the wife’s berlingo mpv – same engine.

Now has a 7.2 m iveco daily camper conversion 180 quid go figure.

If it’s not your insurance then you’ll never build up a No Claims Discount. I’m not sure what the other implications of being on your employers policy would be but I’d be very, very nervous.

That’s mega expensive! Are you really young? Have you any ncb? Trawl all the comparison sites for the best quotes. I do this every year for 2 vans. Transit is about £300 a year with max no claims. Trafic is a about £350 with 2 years ncb. Both commercial. Switch every year to get the best price.
