    I seem to remember though that someone on here was a fuel engineer and claimed that vpower was synthesised from an entirely different base gasoline.

    That was Sui, iirc.

    Ethanol has a higher RON than petrol, but lower energy density.

    In practice this means that you can get more power, but lower MPG.

    Note that the lower MPG doesn’t mean it’s less efficient, just lower energy density (so less energy in = less energy out) – running on ethanol you can actually go a bit more efficient, hence the higher power outputs possible. It annoys me when people confuse the two.
