I have a Holux 1200 (tiny) data logger GPS that I use to log my rides with. I normally get home, open the logger on my laptop with the Holux programme (called EZtour) which reads the data from the logger. From there I can export it to a GPX (or KML or many other types) file and then upload that file to the www that night on Endomondo, MyTracks or any other such application.
The logger is fantastic, weighs about 30g, will save many (30+?) days riding but needs recharging via the USB lead after 12 hours logging.
My problem is this – when I go touring abroad, for say 10-14 days, I want to do the same but won’t have a laptop of course. I will have my Android phone and a USB charger (which charges both, provided that night’s hut has a socket). I need to get the phone to read the logger, to convert the data to GPX and then upload it to the web. I can normally find a WiFi connection at some stage on most days. What I want is for mates at home to be able to track my route/progress nightly. Of course if it is possible I can see Singletrackworld people all doing it and so summer will be spent either riding the Alps or sat in work watching the Web following everyone else’s routes!
There must be some techie whizzes on here, any ideas?
