    If I was the defence lawyer I’d just interview a load of kids on film – see what an avreage 4yr old can foresee as a consequence of riding on a pavement. Then the mother denies encouraging the kids and case collapses (maybe).

    The telling piece is that its currently accepted practice in the US that a 5 year old is legally responsible for their actions anyway…

    And what they actually mean is that Insurance Companies can sell lots of 3rd party insurance, and Lawyers can make money suing people.

    But tbh when we lived in Germany it was accepted practice to buy household 3rd party insurance. As the Agent said to me “what happens if your son throws a stone and breaks a neighbours window?”.
