Is anyone else having wi-fi issues since upgrading to IOS6?

    http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-57522869-37/apples-ios-6-stumbles-on-basic-connectivity-wi-fi/

Using a iphone 4s here and finding my wi-fi speed slow to none existant at home with BT infinity?

No issues before the ios upgrade and now, bam!

Or is it just me? 😉

Now you mention it, my wife has the same issue

Maybe the STW massive has a clue whats going on and a fix?

Yes, my porn has taken an age to buffer compared to my 3gs.

I upgraded my pad and phone to ios6 and the phone dropped its wifi speeds so after much googling and faffing I restricted my router to just 802.11n and only 20hz rather than 20/40hz, this seems to have fixed it for the moment.

Zero problems here – probably ‘cos when I ‘upgrade’ I factory reset the phone (back to 5.1) THEN upgrade to 6.0…. THEN do another factory reset.

Takes a little bit of time, but worth it to iron out any potential upgrade bugs.

    Might be worth a shot?

Nice one Murdoch, just struck me that I don’t have issues with wi-fi at work, so will check that advice out, thanks

Again STW massive has a possible answer 🙂

Not a problem for me – 4S on a mixed-mode network seems just as fast as before.

No problems here on iPhone 4 or iPad 3, and I have a netgear router which according to the article is “a problem”
(mind you mine is only 801.11a/b/g/ not n – maybe that’s where the issue is?)

Iphone4s upgraded and ( u won’t want to hear this) I found my access speed went up massively. That and the offline mode is the only things I like though.

I’ve had problems with podcasts playing on their own when the alarm goes off. The wife loves the football ramble podcast at half six I’m the morning! I’ve had it lose all my bookmarks, and the maps are…well you’ll know about that.

iPad is stayin ios5.1 for now

Not having speed problems but my iPhone 4 is struggling to connect to my home WiFi. Before the upgrade it was fine.

The odd thing is my iPad 2 has no problems at all. In fact I can have them side by side and the iPad will connect with good signal strength no problem at all but the iPhone will not even see the WiFi never mind join it !!

Not having any issues generally with my old white HomeHub, but it’s a bit behind the times. Occasionally either my Pad or iP5 will just sit there and not connect, so I restart and they’re perfectly happy, and other times the router just totally drops the signal, for no apparent reason.
(Note to me: must get a new router…).

CountZero if you’re on an old router check the encription. Chances are its using WEP which is not really that secure by modern standards WPA2 is what you want. Just changed my router last weekend and didn’t realise this myself

I was at first having trouble with mail too (using a gmail a/c) ended up deleting the account settings off the iphone and setting it up again, which sorted that issue for me.

My I4s hasn’t been brilliant to be honest. Just had to restart it to get wifi working

Anyone who is having problems: it may be worth doing Settings->General->Reset->Reset All Settings

That seems to be a good general “kick everything up the arse to flush out any bugs” fix especially after an OS upgrade.
It resets all config files, caches etc.

You won’t lose any apps or data – but you will have to re-enter a few passwords, fix your wallpaper, switch your emoji keyboard back on etc.

Had similar issues with failing to connect when I upgraded my ip4 to os5 last year, lasted for months, intermitantly then sure sly just fixed itself overnight
Staying away from os6 until at least 6.1

Just looking at replacements, and this puppy seems to be both affordable and a good performer: http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/ShopDetail.asp?ProductID=12690

I’ve not read the thread but did have issues on both phones when I upgraded them. Remove the wireless network and re-add it. Fixed both of mine.

Sorry mate didn’t mean to cost you money. I thought my old router was okay but changed it because it stopped working and found this out.

Sweet – glad my “hit it with a virtual hammer” approach worked 😀
