My experience comes from helicopter flights from Scatsta airfield around Up Helly Aa. As in there aren’t any. Oddly enough all the airfield personnel used to be ill that day, and the day after, and the day after that. Spent a few nights in Brae over the years as a result.

Having been to The Outer Hebrides my next ‘bucket list’ trip is the Shetlands & would love to witness Up Helly Aa!
