Its getting a little chilli and wet, so before its gets down to the near and below zeros I have been looking at some under helmet skull caps and beanies.
The sealskinz peaked beanie looks good, finding a stockist in Bristol to let me try one is another story.
Dry and warm with some ear protection would be nice...
Anyone got any recommendations for daily commute and mountain biking.... 
Endura do some good ones, I have a headband and cap.
i normally just use a cotton cycling cap .... sometimes one of those

I've a Gore cap thingy that does the trick.
+1 for the buff, as you can see very versatile.... so head warmer one day, neck scarf the next, that why I own two.
Rapha Belgium style cap here, excellent warmth in sub zero temps, nice styling to boot.
Buffs are great - I've got three. Some chap had a new endura skull cap on the classifieds (yesterday maybe?) that was at a tempting price.
Buffs are fine, but get pretty smelly. OK, not a major issue, but if you are using it everyday, then may be something to consider.
Can't remember the name of mine, think it might be Smartwool, but I've been using a merino helmet hat for a few years now, and really rate it. Think Enduro and a few other companies out there will do something similar.
Merino wool buff is the kiddy, its longer than the original buff, so you can double it up around the ears when worn as a beanie for super warmth and its soft enough to go under your lid and still be comfortable.
Oh and you don't have to wash merino as much as other fabrics, so its great for commuting etc

I use a buff most of the time in pirate mode. When it's really cold, I use it beanie mode.
But I run warm.
I use this for cold days
+1 Buff, but always carry a spare for after a stop. Nicer putting a dry one on than a wet one.
WORS: There's usually a deal to be done at the events we cover eg mayhem, UCI Fort Bill, but I can't supply direct im afraid, sorry...
Topangarider: Try a UV buff, as they wick better and tend to be popular with them who "run warm"

You get a free buff type thing with MBUK this month, it seems ok to be honest.
I'm a sweaty betty though so I only need to wear a hat on the coldest of cold days.

Seriously, I find a bit of duct tape over the front vents of my helmet does the job, and for -20ºC, a buff gets added.
Much more than that leads to sweat soak followed by ice cream head chill.
+3 for the Voodoo buff in this months MBUK, I also have a Buff buff, from go outdoors. Two of them is ideal, one on the head and one round your face and neck. Toastyness. 
Snowboarding underhelmet balaclava,v thin but v warm and mine's got a lovley fleecy neck thing attatched,very snuggly.
Another vote for buff, couldn't wear anything more than that personally but I suppose if I was in the frozen north I might think differently.
+1 more for the buff, i commute everyday and ride twice a week so i've got 7 of them (i had eight but lost one in the sea at perranporth

Buffs are also extremely suspect, i'm awaiting advice from the Chief Commissioner (Style Police) they've had this forum on their radar for some time.. Principly under the heading 'totally uneccassary use of lycra and spandex by grown men'.
i dont carry them all with me! it's just so i've always got a couple of clean ones available as i can only be arsed to do the washing at weekends (single dad, working full time).

Declathon lycra running cap. Aldi sell a decent one from time to time. Them Buff things are great also.
i got the free buff in mbuk, and tbh it feels a bit, er, snug/tight round the neck.
are the ones you actually buy in a shop a bigger size?
i fancy one of the reversible ones, cos im going to canada in february and ive heard they sometimes get frost over there . . . .
Icebreaker skull cap for me when it gets properly cold, but I also change helmets as my road one vents too much
