SO has noticed a payment, only £30, from her account, no receipt, no idea of when she went to the pub.

It might simply be can’t remember, but she is convinced she hadn’t been to that pub on that date?

Is there anyway to get hold of a receipt to confirm either way.

It might not have been on that day.
Sometimes transactions appear 3 or 4 days later on the statement.

Has she phoned the bank stating she doesn’t recognise the payment?

If they use an offline swipe machine then they might have uploaded the transactions a few days later? ,possibly!

hasn’t been to that pub for weeks and is certain she hasn’t been to a pub and spent £30 in one payment anywhere for a while.

mrs busydog recently had a charge for $103.00 on a debit card from a grocery store located in Maryland, USA and we live in New Mexico.
Someone, somehow got hold of the card number (lot’s of ways that can be done)and created a counterfeit card (it was swiped on a card machine)–fortunately, the person went right back into the same store 7 minutes later and tried to make another purchase, but the debit card computers caught the anomaly and blocked the second attempt.
I don’t know about there in the UK, but our bank here, when we notified them, immediately cancelled the card and issued us a credit for the charge.
Real pain in the butt to have to wait for a new debit card and then change all the automatic payments that are set up on it.
