I have a very old and basic Elite model. Do I have to get a non-QR back wheel set up or should the QR lever fit into the turbo trainer some how. Initial look suggests that it won’t fit?

My back wheel with QR fits into my Elite clamp perfectly… It has a little cutout for the lever, you might have to twist the end cup around a bit to get it to fit properly.

if mogrim’s advice doesn’t work it might be that the design of your lever won’t fit (Traines usually come with there own), so just get a suitable QR off wiggle – flat ends with cam as far in as possible

Apart from seven’s comment, another thing to bear in mind is that when you tighten and loosen the turbo clamp you might end up loosening the QR too – always check it again before you ride.

If you’re doing a lot on the turbo then it’s worth getting a turbo specific tyre. Doubted it’d make much difference but I does. Feels more connected and smoother somehow.
