How does it differ from say, electrical tape? Is it some special mystical formula, or will any tape do the same job?

If you’re worried about the cost, superstar do what I think is the exact same stuff for about half the price of stans

I tried gorilla tape for an early effort. The adhesive didn’t resist the tubeless jiz very well and lost it’s stickiness…

Remember the tape will have to be strong enough to resist 20-30psi trying to push it through the spoke holes. I’d imagine you’d need a few runs of electrical tape compared to the one of Stan’s

In that case, I use it because it has a hard wearing slippery outer which
helps when getting the beads to pop on during tubeless inflation, it is definitely waterproof and doesn’t move when changing tyres.

Stans rim tape has raised edges, its not flat.

    Electrical tape is flat.
