The first one was from Carbonzone, and I was pretty pleased with it, although getting brakes to fit wasn’t straight-forward.
Not sure what packages they are selling at the moment, but this didn’t come with brakes, and the bars although from the same seller were separate.
On the front there is a funny bulbous nose, and the rear is tucked under the BB so the routing is a bit of a PITA. Even with TT specific Campy brakes I needed to drill a new hole in the front to get it to fit. In a crash I managed to damage the internal guide for the rear brake, which involved some drilling out and replacing with a full length of outer, but I don’t see that as being a major quality issue.
Quite a bit of adjustability – 2 different saddle positions, straight and S-shaped extensions, several different elbow riser supports.
Overall, good value for money, pretty stiff, pretty aero (although I don’t have any data to prove this) and excellent value for money. It was good enough for me to qualify for the 70.3 World Champs in Vegas, so can’t be too terrible!
The replacement is direct from HongFu through VeloBuild for a group-buy discount, and has a very low and uncompromising front end, but feels very stiff and looks cool 😀
Feel free to buzz me any specific queries on either.
Cheers, Rich
