Could this be the bike that secures a 2nd TdF win for Mr. Wiggins?

Launched this morning and I believe he’s planning to ride it in the Giro, meet the Pinarello Bolide… Droooool. 😛

I’ve no doubt it’s fast, but looks a bit awkward to me. For true TT porn, English Cycles:

Yeah, that Pinarello’s pretty ugly, even for a TT bike.

and a five-bolt ring at that.

Is that a child’s saddle up top?

This. The Graal wasn’t exactly pretty, but Christ, it didn’t half look intimidating!

interesting that it has a round chainring.

There’s a gallery on Pinarello’s Facebook page of Wiggo testing the bike in Sky’s colours… It has the oval chainrings on a 5-arm 7900 SRM spider.

Interestingly, the only size that has UCI approval is the size that Wiggo rides…

Heard that he’d ditched the oval chainrings. Apparently not.

Is the saddle on that English on backward or is it just my eyes?

    I think it’s what’s known as “barse friendly”. 😮

Surely that thing on the rear brake should be against the rules – it clearly only exists for aerodynamic advantage.

That fork/head tube area looks a lot deeper section than anyone’s got away with recently too.

saddle could be short to keep the bike UCI legal (nose of saddle 5cm behind BB)
and i believe mr wiggins has reverted to round rings for climbing stages but not on his TT bike.

Danny, the saddle on the English is a Dash TT9, very short split type with a built-in bracket to hold a bottle cage on the back.

Eye-wateringly expensive, mine arrived last week 🙂

Can also be used to carry a shopping bag 😆

I came on here expecting motorbikes as well, especially as its only 23 days, 4 hours and 35 minutes away…..

Not that I’m counting or anything.

I didn’t just pop down the shops, this was picking up milk for a recovery shake on the way back from a morning ride 🙂

Seatpost isn’t cracked, just a scratch

Here is the bike after I finished building it, complete with custom comedy wheel stickers 🙂

ah yes, the chain helps too 🙂

Ring is a 54, but it’s a funny-shaped Rotor one, so looks bigger from certain angles. Not sure it’s in proportion to the size of my thighs unfortunately 🙁

5 years ago if you told me I’d spend longer doing soldering, electronics and wiring than bolting on mechanical components while building a bike, I wouldn’t have believed you! Also the phrase ‘updating the firmwear in my shifters’ I would think was a joke 😀

Having said that, satellite shifters on the base bars are awesome 🙂

Is that one of the carbonzone frames that comes with bars and brakes? What do you think of it?

    what a great video 😀

The first one was from Carbonzone, and I was pretty pleased with it, although getting brakes to fit wasn’t straight-forward.

Not sure what packages they are selling at the moment, but this didn’t come with brakes, and the bars although from the same seller were separate.

On the front there is a funny bulbous nose, and the rear is tucked under the BB so the routing is a bit of a PITA. Even with TT specific Campy brakes I needed to drill a new hole in the front to get it to fit. In a crash I managed to damage the internal guide for the rear brake, which involved some drilling out and replacing with a full length of outer, but I don’t see that as being a major quality issue.

Quite a bit of adjustability – 2 different saddle positions, straight and S-shaped extensions, several different elbow riser supports.

Overall, good value for money, pretty stiff, pretty aero (although I don’t have any data to prove this) and excellent value for money. It was good enough for me to qualify for the 70.3 World Champs in Vegas, so can’t be too terrible!

The replacement is direct from HongFu through VeloBuild for a group-buy discount, and has a very low and uncompromising front end, but feels very stiff and looks cool 😀

Feel free to buzz me any specific queries on either.

    Cheers, Rich

Thanks Rich, I keep trying to avoid getting sucked into buying a TT bike, but I think the new carbonzone might be the most cost effective way if I do!

    Cheers!
