Has anyone done it with the bike? At reasonable cost? I quite like the idea of relaxing all the way to the Alps. Especially as you can get quite near the white rooms by high speed rail.

the theory is easy, eurostar to paris and then tgv to geneva. Don’t know the practice, but bike bag across paris mighn’t be the easiest thing to do.

I have travelled from Geneva to Verbier by Train with a bike and that is fine. Just bag the bike as you may get stung for a bike fare otherwise.

the cost isn’t reasonable – £200 for seats, more for couchettes – and crossing paris is a hassle, but it is fun. you go to bourg st maurice for les arcs not geneva.

I did this a few years back – eurostar + sleeper to Bourg St Maurice.

It was an adventure, but never again!

Getting bike bags across the metro was a challenge, then we had to deal with a few dodgy characters on the sleeper train.

I wouldn’t risk the bike on the sleeper train
    too expensive
    and not secure.
But the central-eastbound sleepers may be well different to the central to south sleeper
