to narrow it down, i want to track my Dad down, but cant let the rest of the family know, long story, too long even for the STW massive, i know roughly which area and funnily enough i know his name, not bothered if he wants to be tracked down, i need answers,

It depends on the circumstances, but if for example you have been in care, then the Salvation Army can help you find your father.
