Got a tow bar on the car and a tow bar carrier but it’s no good with my new frame so need a ride on one.
Anyone used the thule or halfords foot packs and bars (no roof rails) and how hard is it to get the bike on top of the car.
Or should I just get the tow bar ride on.

I have tow bar and roof bar racks. The Thule 591s are fantastic. I can load a bike in 30 seconds.
The tow bar mounted one is a pain in the arse.
Others disagree.

Try lifting bike above your head and then positioning in the rack, if you can lift it high enough youre ok, if youre short with a high car youre stumped.
