  • Touring on a mountain bike – what bars?

My 07 Orange Clockwork is now mostly used for road and light off-road touring. Its running rigid forks and a riser bar, but I want more hand positions. I could fit a flat bar and bar ends, but what are the other options, that are not really expensive? I run gears and avid cable disks (MTB version) and mostly have 2.54mm stems.
    Thanks

Marys with bar ends fitted at the bends for aero, and some on the ends too.

    What levers are you using?

Are you willing/able to swap to roadie STIs?

Risers with bar ends. Or just risers – thats what I use on one bike – mary bars on another

Changing shifters and brake would be a bit expensive.

Butterfly bars are nothing but a pain in the ass. Stick some marys on or get some ergo grips and bar-ends

Gahh. You don’t need all those poncy things!

Normal risers is all I use.

Standard diameter or my bar bag doesn’t fit.

Same here. Easton risers with a bar bag.
Every tour I swear I’ll change the bars for flats, then forget about it till the next time.
