Think it is about time I invested in a torque wrench to make sure all those allen bolts on my bike are correctly torqued. Some of them seem to be a bit pricey though.
What can you recommend that is both accurate and reasonably priced?

Norbar SLO not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Does the Norbar come with all the attachments needed for all the various sizes of bolts that can be found on a bike?

I need a torque wrench that can go up to 55Nm or so which is what is required for fitting a XTR chainset.

The Halfords Professional torque wrenches are excellent. They cover ranges from 8-60Nm, 40-200Nm and 60-300Nm.

For lower ranges the Giant branded torque wrench seems to offer good value.

The Giant one looks a lot like the BBB one? Going a bit cheaper (at Ribble) too here Gets generally good comments from people, looking to get one myself.

55Nm is the equivalent of stepping on the allen key! Just do it up as tight as possible. I have a Norbar, very good torque wrench and English to.

#Seriously, save your money, just tighten everything so its tight by hand, and then a smidge.

best bet would be a brand line Teng, their 5-25nm TW is about 35 quid on ebay, in 3/8 drive (the most suited to bikes and most useful hex sockets to have). The bike specific ones are a rip off, far better to go with a brand that have good reputation in the automotive industry. Most of my tools are snap on, as I do a lot of work on cars so they pay for themselves in saved labour, but their torque wrenches are a rip off so have Halfords professional and Teng which I have found superb. a torque wrench staring at 8mm is not suitable for bikes; most bolts should be at 5nm.

Teng for me too, but I needed it in a rush for the motorbike, otherwise I would have had a norbar from Cromwell tools. Think they were about £55 when I was looking but they are the best really.

Torque wrenches are really a top bit of kit for home maintenance / workshop. I can't understand why people pay loads for parts, ie carbon bars then risk damaging them by being a bit hamfisted with an Allen key.
