Haven't tried this one since was a kid –
any hot jam-on-top base (ideally thick pancake) + lemon curd + thin slice mild cheddar. It just works – try it…

gotta be some more adventurous types out there?

So far midlifecyclist has the weirdest one the rest I'd say aren't at all, Marmite is just wrong for me but can see the sense with the combinations with the ones suggested.

Of course I can't think of anything weird. 🙁

Once spent many £s buying glasses of Jack D/Baileys for guitar players of a certain band; looked like mud under olive oil.

Sounds nice, although I'd be tempted to add some grated cheese and some onion.

robgarrioch that's ace combination found it last year when running low on Bailey's and had a few drinks around at friends we decided to make cocktails. That was the first one and we went no further as it was rather pleasant.

    Some wise ones there.

Orange juice and cola is lovely, and quite a hangover cure.

Corned beef and beetroot hash is yummy.

Someone beat me to orange juice and cola. Thought I was the only drinker of that. Looks like mud (being polite there), tastes excellent.

Another one for Coke and OJ here (gotta be the stuff with bits in though!) and funnily enough I've always called it mud, and my kids know it as that too.

Apple, sliced (unpeeled) and dipped in salad cream and chilli sauce

and most wonderful of all is Soreen malt loaf and Stilton

Rather unadventurous but my favourite flavour combinations at the moment are peanut butter and cucumber, and 'proper' rum and ginger beer (rather unfortunately known in Cornwall as a 'darkie': I prtefer to call it Pirate Juice. Yaaaaaaargh)

Venison with black pudding is amazing too. You can do the black pudding on the side chop it and stir into mashed potato.

Dark chocolate and lime cheesecake is also good

Foie gras, oatcakes and a desert wine (muscadet/ sauternes etc) is also wonderful.

I second the bacon and banana sandwich……………YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMY

Try this then – Croque Mouseur type toasted sandwich.

Dip the slices of bread in egg on one side and assemble a sandwich (egg sides out) containing:

    Gruyere Cheese
    Ham
    Banana
    Creme Fraiche

Fry gently until cheese is softened the creme fraiche is starting to ooze out.

It tastes so good I often eat it straight from the pan, standing at the cooker. Can't wait.

Or at least I used to, had to give up dairy products 🙁

Soy Sauce on cheese on toast is a cracker too
