    Evening,

Can anyone recommend a tool bag or pouch for some basic tools?

Don’t want a saddle bag, just something to put into a ruck sack to keep everything together.

    Cheers

    t,

I put mine in a ‘sandwich box’ as sweat will get in the bag and rust anything steel (mini-tool, knife, pliers, chainlinks) not in a proper waterproof container. I also kep my spare inner tube inside a plastic business-card box to protect it from sharps and abrasion attack. Being paranoid is a virtue not a sin.

I’ve started putting my tools in a stuff sack in my bag. Keeps everything together nicely and costs very little.

Wrap your spare tube in cling film to stop pack rash.

Like the look of those Tulbags, although re-using a sandwich box might be a good plan in the meantime.

    Cheers folks.

Sainsburys carrierbag holds all my stuff in one place in the bag.

Pack rash is what the spare inner tube in your camelbak has whenever you need it. Abrasions from rumbling around the bag.

There was a similar thread recently and someone suggested make-up pouches but I haven’t been able to find any in the chemists yet.

Carrier bag here too – slightly thicker than Sainsburys though! No rust, pack-rash or any other problems to report after decades of bimbling about.

That said, don’t Brooks do a nice leather tool-roll?

Some good little bags available from Alpkit – here – “Mission pack” (in the Accessories section) might suit.
