Got some Ardents on the 29er at the moment and they have reached the limit of what they can cope with 
Got some 2.0 Mud X's in the shed at the moment which seem a bit of overkill at the moment round here (South Downs).
So what's everyone else got on at the moment & how are they coping.
Thinking of buying something in between the two but unsure if it'll be worth it

Can't see Stanmer getting less slippery from now on...
I've got MAxxis Aspens... they're useless in the wet..
my Mud X's are going on today.
Same terrain as the south downs over on the ridegway.
Had Mud X's on all summer .... IMHO they aren't quite a full on mud tyre and perfectly acceptable for most conditions.
Plenty of mud in Friston Forest, I'm running Spesh Storm rear and Bonty XR3 upfront, the XR3 is coming off, it was useless. Any leaves tyres out there?
Looks like that's my evening sorted then, better go clean the bike before it gets dark or it won't be allowed in the house later.

Dropped my front tyre pressure to under 20psi in the hope of finding some grip on the wet roots last Saturday! Therefore I just ordered a Super Tacky Swampthing 2.35 for the front - am leaving the XR4 on the back.
Since I didn't fit my dry/summer tyres till the end of june i've decided that i'm not fitting the mud tyres till the end of November 
Just changed over to winter tyres this week, I live on the southdowns as well...
medusas went on front and rear last week for riding in surrey. I blinked a bit early as I ripped the side wall on a more summer orientated tire and couldn't be bothered changing again after a couple of weeks. Now it's raining and everything is soft winter tyres are just the job.
Had a great ride in stanmer last night on summer tyres. It's not muddy enough for mud tyres yet.
Changed tyres last night: NobbyNic went on the back of my fun bike to replace a RacingRalph (which was lethal on damp root at the weekend), not used NN's in the wet yet so am interested to see how they work.
Mud-X went onto my more XC bike, and will be put to use when the mud gets too much for the other bike.. soon going by the local weather.

Especially running tubeless. Refilled my rear Racing Ralph with Stans sealant the other week after 3 punctures, now the Ralphs are coming off in favour of Mud Xs. Couldn't afford the sealant if I swapped about all the time.

You can re-use the sealant.
In Lewes and regularly ride Stanmer and Friston. Haven't had a problem with Racing Ralphs on my Swift so far but have just swapped out the rear with a narrower Ignitor. Hell getting the RR off and bit worried now about thorn punctures and having the same kind of struggle in the cold. Nearly broke my tyre levers. Should I go tubeless and is it difficult to do for a novice? Never worried about punctures with the Cross bike.
you still have to be prepared to fit a tube even with sealant - it's not a panacea.
I carry a DH tyre lever - makes the job easier when you have cold hands.
Pedro tyre levers are pretty good.
I'm just about to buy a set of tyres for my new 29er build, wondering if I should go all out and get a pair of eavers or go for a more all rounder like a Sepcalized Ground Control or a Bonty ACX 2.2"
Typical riding on the bike will be woodsy single track with the odd trail centre thrown in and smoe more natural stuff when I don;t wanna get teh FS caked in crap

Anyone rate the Maxxis Medusa ?
After last nights slip fest I'm going to replace the advantage at the front for something a little more specific to mud I reckon.
They're made by Bontrager Lowey, JE James had some cheap.
Although I've been pleased with single ply swampthings (tubeless), got them last winter and they'll be going back on for the Rivington mud.....
Well I've just bought some race kings, which are summer tyres. So based on that I think you'll be fine 
Lowey bontrager makes mud-x and they are flipping awesome. Bit skinny for slamming into those rocks on ICR but otherwise top notch tyre. Can get em for £20 each without having to shop around much.
I keep em on all year on my SS.

I really rate them, but tyres are so subjective. Mate tried them on my recommendation and hated them.
I run 2.4 Advantage monsters in the summer and the skinny spikes totally change the way I ride. But so do the seasons, so I don't mind. I tend to 'play' more in summer, do DH runs and stuff as it's so nice just being out. In winter I do more head down, XC distance stuff so skinny, low volume, spikey tyres work for me.
That said, as pointed above I'm trying Trailrakers this year as my mate runs them and I was jealous of the size of his knobs. So we'll see if I regret it or not.
Aye, will soon be time to get the IRC Mud Mads out... 
Has anyone got any experience with maxxis wetscreams?
Are they too slow , or can they be useful in winter?
When people say "full on mud tyres" do they mean pointy spiked things as used in DH racing which make a complete mess of trails and skitter over roots and rocks or do they mean tyres which don't clog easily and are sticky enough to handle wet roots and stuff?
Swapped my tyres over last week, for my 1st ride on Wednesday last. It was wet and muddy and I was glad I had my mudx on in QECP (actually they were Spec Storms, but very similar). That'll be it, apart from changing the FS too, until March or so.
Alex - I'm talking about narrower tyres that don't clog as much. Sticky enough to handle wet roots & stuff..... Moon on a stick

mud x went on the back last weekend, remember to check for the thorns you left in them when you took the off last march
