Went for a ride today on my usual trails (up on Bluebell Hill Kent)and almost every trail had logs/large branches placed across it,ive seen the odd one before but never this many it really runied the flow of the ride, who is doing this?im guessing walkers or horse riders but why i know that all the guys i ride with are always considerate to them, what are they trying to prove??

Doubt it be horse riders more like a disgruntled walker. I caught someone doing this at Cannock once and even some passing horse riders had a go at them.

it is amusing that a group that won their access rights by trespass now try and stop other people enjoying the same rights as them and view them as vandlas and as trespassers
    shame your ride was ruined

If I ever catch anyone doing this, I’m going to torture and murder them and then strip naked and hold their ripped-out heart above me and let the blood drip all over my naked body as I recite ‘Hymn to Pan’ have a stern word with them about their selfishness and ask them how would they like it if I laid a log across their doorway…

Thrill with lissome lust of the light,
    O man ! My man !
Come careering out of the night
Of Pan ! Io Pan .
Io Pan ! Io Pan ! Come over the sea
From Sicily and from Arcady !
Roaming as Bacchus, with fauns and pards
And nymphs and styrs for thy guards,
On a milk-white ass, come over the sea
    To me, to me,
Coem with Apollo in bridal dress
    (Spheperdess and pythoness)
    Come with Artemis, silken shod,
And wash thy white thigh, beautiful God,
In the moon, of the woods, on the marble mount,
The dimpled dawn of of the amber fount !
Dip the purple of passionate prayer
In the crimson shrine, the scarlet snare,
The soul that startles in eyes of blue
To watch thy wantoness weeping through
The tangled grove, the gnarled bole
Of the living tree that is spirit and soul
And body and brain -come over the sea,
(Io Pan ! Io Pan !)
Devil or god, to me, to me,
My man ! my man !
    Come with trumpets sounding shrill
    Over the hill !
    Come with drums low muttering
    From the spring !
Come with flute and come with pipe !
    Am I not ripe ?
I, who wait and writhe and wrestle
With air that hath no boughs to nestle
My body, weary of empty clasp,
Strong as a lion, and sharp as an asp-
    Come, O come !
    I am numb
With the lonely lust of devildom.
Thrust the sword through the galling fetter,
    All devourer, all begetter;
Give me the sign of the Open Eye
And the token erect of thorny thigh
And the word of madness and mystery,
    O pan ! Io Pan !
Io Pan ! Io Pan ! Pan Pan ! Pan,
    I am a man:
Do as thou wilt, as a great god can,
    O Pan ! Io Pan !
Io pan ! Io Pan Pan ! Iam awake
In the grip of the snake.
    The eagle slashes with beak and claw;
    The gods withdraw:
The great beasts come, Io Pan ! I am borne
    To death on the horn
    Of the Unicorn.
I am Pan ! Io Pan ! Io Pan Pan ! Pan !
I am thy mate, I am thy man,
Goat of thy flock, I am gold , I am god,
Flesh to thy bone, flower to thy rod.
With hoofs of steel I race on the rocks
    Through solstice stubborn to equinox.
And I rave; and I rape and I rip and I rend
    Everlasting, world without end.
    Mannikin, maiden, maenad, man,
    In the might of Pan.
Io Pan ! Io Pan Pan ! Pan ! Io Pan !

Doesn’t matter how you dress it up – it’s still a Halfords BSO.

So it’s walkers doing it then but why?are they doing it to get at motorcross bikes or do we annoy them that much with are quiet non damaging mtb’s??

Learn to bunnyhop good . Then enjoy both the logs and the looks on their faces.

Just remove everything that is placed over the trails. We had this a while back and they soon got bored of doing it.

as you drag the logs off the path, don’t forget to have a slash on them

Just play the game and remove the logs. Stickman will appreciate it as it gives him something to do, aside from muttering to himself on his lonely woodland walks.

Don’t lump the nutty walkers in with the nice ones, of which there are plenty. Sometimes some people get a bit upset that you’re riding on “their” trail, and it’s possible that bike tyres are seen to be damaging the trail. They do this to stop you, the point I find amusing is that usually they can’t move logs big enough to cause an obstacle and simply make an opportunity to jump/hop something. Sometimes it can spoil the flow though, so just move them out of the way, they’ll soon get bored.

Take a saw, hammer and nails and use the logs to construct some awesome north shore – then leave a thankyou note thanking them for the logs

All joking aside, these people are a real problem and should be reported to the police. A few years back we had a riderdie from injuries sustained after crashing into branches placed as an obstacle in one of our local woods. I’ve also come across wire strung at neck height across trails. Once saw an old guy putting rocks across a local trail when out with my dogs, asked him what he was doing and he said it was to stop the motorbikes, suspect it may have been him that did the wire too – although I don’t agree with motorbikes in the woods its usually young kids that are riding them there.

Surely the intention of any blockage is to make the rider fall off which will inevitably result in injury or worse – therefore I would say again it’s amatter for the police.
