Oh dear. When v2.0 was 1 he managed to order a pay per view wrestling match on V+ including entry of a password I certainly didn't know! Almost £20 IIRC but give them their due, Virgin refunded it no problem at all. Worth calling apple?

Look Wrightyson..It's ok for a grown man to like Kick Buttowski, and for that grown man to by that and the entire selection of Phinius and Ferb, Lion King etc...What is not OK is blaming it on the kids....

so what was bought then?

I was having a quick flick thro my emails this morning when I noticed the I tunes receipt, I then saw another and then another two!! They both had I pods for Christmas and are allowed to download games etc if we type the password in! The cheeky (developers) have then put some in app purchases which if the password has been typed in will stay "live" for half an hr or so! So he's merrily clicking away!! I've felt sick all day that if I hadn't checked my email this could possibly have continued towards bankruptcy!!!
However and it's a big however, mr Jobs can rest easy in his gilt edged casket as the nice people at apple have refunded me...... but made it totally clear that it's a one off!!Posted 4 months ago # -
Switch off in app purchases ASAP - they're a nightmare

Wwaswas, now I've been an apple user for 5 years but didn't know you could do that, is it done on the device itself or I tunes store?

What is the punishment for such dishonesty and disobedience these days?
Posted 4 months ago # -
set them up accounts via IPAD for apps only, then no card needs to be registered. Mine use their iTunes vouchers for this.

More importantly, Ipod with earphones?
Posted 4 months ago # -
Nope, no headphones! I accredit my terrible hearing to my old Walkman days when I was a kid!!
Posted 4 months ago # -
Agree. For years I had Walkmans and then iPods.

wrightyson - there's a how to here; http://www.ikidapps.com/2010/12/parents-avoid-accidental-app-purchases-how-to-turn-off-in-app-purchasing.html

Wrighty, same thing happened to a friend of mine in the last few days. Got refunded as well. Bet you it was the same developer's software. Very sneaky and possibly illegal, report to Apple ASAP.
Ps Why do you think you got your money back???
Just read that link of Hora's. This was one of the comments:
I just got a bill for $110 for a purchase that my young son made within a "free" app making food for Santa Claus. He had no idea he was spending "real" money, and neither did I! I don't care if Apple don't write the apps, if they host them on their site and they need a password for a free download, then they need to enforce password rules for downloads within the application too! The guy told me that the Smurfs game is notorious for this too, and they've had a LOT of angry parents ringing them with huge bills! He led me through how to disable the in-app function, and he also led me through how to place on online complaint. No promise of a refund but I was told I should know within 24 hours. Big grrrrrrrr Apple, this should be illegal! Not even Facebook allows "real" money purchases without passwords!

Eek! Apple do refund - stepson 2 spent a small fortune on granny's ITunes account, but the safest bet is never to save you bank details and use ITunes cards instead.

My son did the same many years ago,he worked out the pay per view code on Sky...£250 on films that month,he was only watching them for 5-10 minutes at a time before he went to school !

Jeez, it throws the recent discovery of schoolgirl pron on stepson 2's ipod into perspective...

My daughter was randomly pushing buttons on the PS3 remote trying to get the movie to play but the TV was still off (she's 2). When I turned on the TV she was about to confirm a year's subscription to Playstation Network+

You are the adult, take some responsibility.
If nothing else I suggest you at least look at your saved passwords list etc. and consider whether a 6 year old should be surfing the 'net with no-one paying any attention. You wouldn't (I hope) let them play with knives, cross the road or walk through town alone, so what's the difference?
Posted 4 months ago # -
had similar, though not too that much. anyway a grovelling email later and they refunded my money.
