On Maxxis/Hope hoops rims you dont need tyre levers for either taking off or putting back on.

Hence why I love that combo!

Not so long back I used an old Hope/DT6.1 rim with a maxxis tyre and because I was used to not carrying/needing levers I was ****! 😆

Did you think he’d inflate it to 100psi with his mouth?

That would make him Chuck Le Norris.

As a kid I watched Lemond win the TDF in 1989 and my attachment to cycling started. I also watched him ask difficult questions to Lance and initially wondered if he was bitter and where he was going with his PR. As time went by I wanted his suspicions to be proved and finally this has happened.

It is a shame that he was ruined by Lance and Trek but good to see that his humour and good nature has not been damaged. He is on my list of people with true integrity and has stood up for what he believed was right, now lets see him give Lance that that kicking.

    Yellow tyre lever. 8)

The pro mechanics can change a tube in a minute. My record is sub two minutes. This is with C02. I didn’t see him check the tube wasn’t pinched. Deadly mistake for latex and conti hypersport race tubes.

Just been reading up on Greg Lemond’s life and career on Wikipedia, the more you read about him the more Chuck Norris he gets!

And before he slew the badger, he spent a very long time growling at it….

PLUS…he would do Lance in a square go, nae messin’.

Landis’ business manager called and threatened to disclose publicly that LeMond was the victim of childhood sexual abuse, should he appear in court as scheduled the following day

Some real nice pieces of work in cycling. Win at all costs. Didnt Flandis blame everyone but himself in the end? Nice bloke.

Same as some above, I had never heard of Greg Lemond until today.

I certainly will never forget him. Onwards with the reading, what a proper inspirational D.U.D.E.

Met him last year at the Haute Route after party, had a good old chat with him too. He’s a very very nice man, was chatting casually about his 89 win.

Ooo, I have a pic. Me on the right.

Each generation has their own experiences, I suppose, but I’ll never forget Lemond winning the TDF by 8 seconds – poor old Fignon (R.I.P) must have been so gutted.

(Blimey, was that really 25 years ago!)

I tried the ‘inflate by mouth to give it a bit of structure’ on an mtb inner when I punctured on flint at the top of one of the sdw climbs. Was rushing to get back on and catch up with the group, and the combined effects of the climb, the hurry, and the big blow job made me nigh on black out.

Schwalbe Fat Franks and Mavic 517s you don’t even really need to let the air out – quite a casual relationship between tyre and rim.

Good skills. Not sure I could blow a tyre up like that with my lung power, maybe I could find an alternate biological pressurised gas source.

Hmmm, I have an idea [reaches for curry house menu] 😈

Awesome bloke, it’s a shame the LeMond brand went awry, I’ll stick with my old poprad as it’s the best bike I’ve ever owned.
Although a quick Google seems to suggest that he’s bringing new bikes out again.

Great Lemond memorable moments when I was a kid were
    1. Lemond and Hinault hand in hand at the top of Alpert d’heuz
    2. Beating Fignon by 8 seconds in the GC on the final TT stage into Paris
    3. Seeing him finish on a really bad day with shit dripping down his legs

I think he may have been responsible for more Tri Bars on road bikes than anyone in history.
Oh , and I had to have a pair of those bars with the additional return at the bottom

Great man , great times , so much more watchable for me back then ( old man was a first cat rider so
It seemed to be on the Betamax more than anything else,)

    He’s certainly worn the T-shirt.
