Slightly different to my last ride. 20k longer. 900m more climbing. 1500m less descending. And one ton of mud added.

Went to Swinley and rode a mountain bike for the first time in an age

It was a bit mucky, but not as bad as I’d though.

    Yep really!
Made me think of the times similar situations arose (generally through lack of knowledge of riding area or night rides)

Did a quick loop around the local woods (Can for those in the Plymouth area) in the morning, and then headed over to a local cyclocross race in the afternoon with the big camera. I wouldn’t normally bother with ‘cross stuff, but I had several friends racing.

No pics from me, but I did get out the bike for the first time in month (that’s 2 rides in 5 months 8) ). Not any sorer today than before the ride, so i’m on the mend. Even managed to scope out a new building project for then I wield a spade again.

I felt great last night. It’s very easy to forget just how much better riding your bike can make you feel (mentally that is).

    No pics – sorry…
Saturday was my first ride in around 3 months – i’d picked up that proper, awful cold that went round. Took 2 months for it to shift…
Christmas ride with the local guys.
    14.5miles.
    Mud.
    Touch of the black stuff.
    Snifters from the hip flasks.
First time i’d ridden in the dark. I think i might like it.
First time i’d ridden with my new All Marsden setup – wider bars and a (silly) short stem.
    Legs ache.
    Sit bones ache.
    Face aches. From smiling 🙂

    Few beers after the ride.
    Home to shower and shave.
All meet back up at the local italian foe more beers and food.
    🙂

I was trying out my 1×10 set up with cross tyres, worked pretty well. Was interesting on gravel/loose climbs though:

A bit of beach riding over in Lossie for me.

The place is a bit of a mess after the storm. A lot of the dunes have gone.

Glen Einich, Cairngorms. The colours make it look about 25 degrees warmer than it was, a bit of a winter treat of a day.

A frozen Loch Ardinning on the West Highland Way. Not technically the weekend…it was Friday but I had the day off. 4″ of ice everywhere…no super fast times but great fun just trying to stay upright.

Some great photos there. I’m doubting anyone wants to see the sad sight of a bike on a turbo trainer so I won’t be contributing.
