Colour me pop hosted by richard williams then evolved into the whistle test.
Stand outs for me – rory gallagher (my number 1 musical hero), ry cooder playing vigilante man, captain beefheart, roxy music when whispering bob made it clear he didn’t like them, bob marley, the tubes….so many more.
The theme music – stone fox chase – and stone kicker graphics.
    Let me reminisce…..

Colin Blunstone ( and heavy friends) playing Say You Don’t Mind.
    Druid
    Budgie
Amazing early CGI graphics to things like Floyd’s ‘Careful with that Axe…’
The video for Accidents Will Happen.

Chatting to Bob in the pub to talk music and get clues about the next programme.

When it lost the “Old Grey”… I recorded the PiL set onto a cassette with the recorder sat in front of the telly. “SSSHHH!”

This blew me away and when I found it on Youtube I actually dun a comment. A comment on Youtube! I musta been excited.

ZZ Top, Cheap Sunglasses. TOGWT was one of the few reasons to justify going into the uni bar.

Am I the only one who remembers wading through a whole load of sh1t just to get maybe two or three tracks per series that were good? A bit like Jools now…

I first saw U2 on TOGWT, doing I Will Follow & The Electric Co, 1980 IIRC. They would have been about 18 at the time & I was very impressed. Not so impressed by them nowadays though

Wow indeed MrW! I liked that track, just been reading your interview and so sad that Adrian didn’t get the help he desperately needed.

And you’ve played at The Marquee. 8)

What an interesting life you’ve undoubtedly had. 😀

@rustyspanner – Little Feat are one of my favourite bands. Frank Zappa kicked Lowell George out of The Mothers of Invention for being weird!

Saw them at Manchester Free Trade Hall in the late 1970s – actually the tour they recorded for Waiting for Columbus. Then saw them a few years ago at the Picturedrome in Holmfirth – the set was delayed as one of the audience went into labour 😛

    Anyway, another TOGWT video:

Whitestone, I am very jealous indeed, too young to have seen them with LG, don’t really want to see them without him.

Sorry for posting this AGAIN, but how bloody good is this?

Some great vids and memories. 😀

    How’s this for a line-up:

    Sensational Alex Harvey Band
    Tim Buckley
John McLaughlin & the Mahavishnu Orchestra
    Doobie Brothers
    Van Morrison
Allman Brothers closed with a very long set.

    Two pages in & no-one’s mentioned Skynryd’s set 😯
I didn’t watch OGWT at the time but I’ve seen plenty of repeat episodes over the years & highlights so far are the above mentioned Skynryd set which resides on the HDR & gets played a couple of times a year,ZZ Top, & Talking Heads.I’ve not seen the Ramones episode..
Episodes seem to turn up on BBC4 occasionally.
I get the comparison to ‘Later’,there’s a lot of stuff on there that I wouldn’t listen to again.

    The New York Dolls

Yes that was one of the best I’ve seen
