I remember this, and how even the idea of wanting to feel better seems wrong. For me, I found that writing down what happened and how I felt, helped a great deal.

Not much else I can say. Take care

my old dear died after a very long struggle. it was a difficult relief when she went. she had no kind of life that was worth the term, come the end. it was a release for her, difficult for those left behind, but you come to terms with it. it’s what you have to do, and do do, after all of it.
    keep on trucking.

Sorry for your loss c-g. We went through similar circumstances with my grandmother a few years ago, and it’s a very harsh illness for the family.

All I can add is that over time you learn to cope with the loss and you will find that instead of the struggles you remember all the good things.

I lost my Dad last August, he was only 67.

It’s very strange not having those who you are closest to around any more.

They never leave your heart they will always be there with you wherever you go whatever you do watching over you.

My thoughts go to all those whose lives he was a part of c_g

It is really painful now- but a release. It really will get easier (but perhaps not better) as time goes by. Remember good things, in special places, at special times. Sort of works for me.

And don’t forget to cry, lots of crying.

sounds like he went through a long illness…? I know what you mean. It’s a terrible thing to happen but knowing the suffering is over is a relief. I’m right there with you, I think about my dad a lot. It’ll get better, think on about the good times.

Sorry to hear your sad news c_g, my condolences to you and family.

I cared for my Dad through the last four months of his life before the pancreatic cancer finally got him two and a half years ago, and while it was a blessing for him when he finally went, I do miss having the old so-and-so around and still have a natter to him occasionally.

Thank you all for your kind words. It has enabled the tears to flow as they had been pretty much bottled up earlier.

Lots of good memories to cherish.

Still gutted for you c_g 🙁

I’m glad you’ve had a good cry – this is not a time to feel you have to be “strong” and stiff upper lips are very overrated anyway. A period of intense grieving now will help much further along the road.

    It gets easier.

Elaine, I saw my grandma go through many years of pain. A strong old fashioned lady reduced to such a frail figure. When my dad told me she had died, all I could say was “thank God for that” which sounds cruel but isn’t. A persons soul is what they leave behind when they are gone. You’ll remember the happy times!

Big hug, you know where we are

He was one of the main resons you have a chance at life, I hope that you and your loved ones are OK.

All that really matters is how we effect other peoples lives.

What we stand for while we still stand, for shortly we will all fall.
