No idea where you go to/from but I used to track the hill on the north side- an excuse for some hill training up pigeon house or Portchester lane etc! I know of two cyclist who have died along there, one was a club mate. Not their fault as taken out by drivers (one was the classic sun-in-eyes-didn’t-think-it-might-be-a-good-idea-to-slow-down excuse). I did ride it when struggling for options but chose my moments and commute time was not one of them.
