tents are ace!
I used to go camping it up all the time but then the kids came along etc...
I recently went camping with my two boys and it was brilliant fun! I had forgotten just how much fun it is. So glad I've gone back to it.
Next trip is already planned...

Don't know if it's too late or whether you have a Blacks store near you but they've got some frankly brilliant deals on! I just went in to buy some waterproofer for our old 2 man. It was 8 quid so I bought a new tent instead, ridiculous sale. Vango alpha 300 £60 down to £ 30 but not only that it's bloody buy 2 get 3rd free on all sale stuff!! So we ended up with the tent, a £35 quid outwell cookset and a £50 quid three season bag for £50 total!!!!!!

We have one of these:

Ours is the older version. Room for a couple of chairs in the front and space to cook.
If you are anywhere near me you're welcome to borrow it and try it for a weekend.

I love tents, and own three now!
I have a Vango pop-up tent for when it's just me, and a Vango Tigris which is good 6 birth tent for when it's the three of us.
I also bought a secondhand Outwell, which is a 4 birth, but would probably suit a couple but was not bigger enough for me, my partner and 10yr old son. If your interested, I'm open to offers (had a tiny tear in one corner).
All are waterproof and Vango's are easy to pitch, pack up again. Also remember the heavier your gear the more petrol consumption you will incur.
The Go Outdoors near us has pitched tents to look at - they might do this your way and might be worth a butchers
Good luck on finding your fab tent!

Marko, does that Freelander have a ground sheet in the porch, as I quite like the look of it! Not cheap mind but I think i've resigned myself that I'm a cheapskate so may have to invest a little more than planned.
I quite like the look of the Vango Icarus 500 but does it have to have the 2 rooms for sleeping or could you leave that as one?

'. . . does that Freelander have a ground sheet in the porch?'
No. You can buy one though. We pop a Karrimat down in front of the sleeping area, so we can get in the Tent in muddy boots etc. and then stand on the Karrimat to get changed.
We've also got the Khyam Biker, a Pop up, a Coleman solo, a Coleman Phad3 (I think), a tarp, a bivy shelter and a bivy bag . . .Mmmm Tents . . .
