I recently crashed and put a 4cm hole in the knee of my lovely Giordana Body Clone bib longs. I can’t find any where that will repair them and besides the repair stitches on the knee will probably rub. Therefore I’m thinking that wearing knee warmers underneath would be a good idea.

I’ve not used knee warmers before so can anyone recommend a pair that aren’t too long or too thick that would do the job?

I’ve repaired plenty of tights that have torn there and they’ve never rubbed…

Sorry, can’t recall what brand my knee warmers are though.

I use Bontrager knee warmers, £15 roubaix jobs. They’re fine!

I have some endura ones and they are great. The rubber tape bit around the top really does stop them from sliding down your legs.

I ride a pair of bibs with a great big hole in the knee – after a crash on some cobbles in Belgium. hole has got bigger, so I’d say stitch them now and see how you go on.

Knee warmers – I use some descent ones I got for £20 last year. Light fleece backing, so do the job nicely.

I have used the btwin ones from decathlon and they ha e survived a few mtb falls. They do the job and are cheap.

I have endura ones, they slip a bit on me, maybe I should have gone for a tighter fit (does not affect their use – just makes you look stupid IMO)? But work great.

Clubber – did you do the repair yourself or take it to a specialist? I’m not sure I have the any needlework skills to do it myself.

If Im on y mtb I use knee pads, they keep your knees warm, protect your tights and means it hurts less when you throw yourself at the countryside

Anything except Enduras. One size fits all my arse. I’m only 5’8″ and they aren’t long enough to meet my shorts.

All the ‘proper’ road clothing companies offering are just fine. I really like the old style wool knit ones.

Did them myself. I’m no expert with a needle and thread – just do a ‘buttonhole stitch’ as I’ve just found out it’s called: http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/home/how-to-mend-clothes4.htm

A lot of Endura likers up there. So I took a look at the ones I bought – Endura Thermolites. If you look at the CRC ones they are short, if you look at Ribbles they are far longer?

Will I ever buy an Endura item that works or fits for just one ride?

    Look different to these ones?
