Yeah the black downhill is intersting isn't it I really should get up there and do a bit of tidying and reworking of some of the features.

The big drop off that I can think of at the top of that steep decent about 2/3 way 'round is not big if you ride around it!

I think you're talking about the rock step at the top of Whitecliffs section. It's only about a foot high in the middle and even lower on the left.
There's too many shortcuts and alternative lines appearing round features we worked hard to put in You build a nice singletrack section only to find a few months later its as wide as a motorway because people are too lazy to ride the existing trail We get asked to put technical features in suitable for a red grade, which we do, then people ride round them. And then they say the trails boring!

Ride up on the moors in day light and use Dalby on a night time. It puts a new twist to it, Especially round by gigglebie cafe( not spelt right) with the dogs.

Col are they packing in the bike shop after they got some bikes nicked.

Dalby is friggin' awesome if you like charging singletrack. I love it. Best of all, they built it half an hour from my house.
It's really well-drained too.
I never go anywhere else.

Mistercrud - I was thinking exactly the same thing, the faster you go at it, the better it is!

@ Mtbcol the features are great, I ride there a lot over winter thanks the hard work!

I Love it! Been loads of times. Its fantastic when the weather is wet (this weekends forcast) as the worst you get is wheel spray. Perfect route for a 29er! I can see why some people would call it boring if you ride full sus.

Last year I went and plugged the postcode into my Sat Nav.

Leaving Pickering on the Whitby road the GPS told me to turn right down a lane (apparently we were only 1 mile form the carpark) and the lane was full of signs saying "Don't believe your GPS - this is a dead end - it won't take you to Dalby".

It only took us another hour to get there.

Whats going on to the left at Whitecliff decent? (I think its Whitecliff, where the new improved bermed decent is, its the one where the rock drop is at the start of the decent (immediately after a switchback), about 3/4 of the way around) - hard to describe sections of trail

Anyway just prior to the decent you pass some big drops, a 'warning keep off sign' and a blank marker post.

Does this have the makings of an optional black descent?

roughneck- i'm with you. keep well away from dalby during the weekend daylight hours. it gets rammed, although probably not as bad at this time of year. dalby is great (especially at night or when it's wet) but there's so much on the moors to explore if you can be arsed. we went up lsat night in the pitch black and pissing rain and did the last 1/3 of the red and it was f-ing mint!

For the weekend, go at 8am....empty, but admittedly a bit chilly.
By 10am, you can't hardly park, but the crowds disappear once you start riding.
The fitter you are, the faster you ride, the more fun you have. We ride slowly up the climbs to save some, then hammer everything else.
I love this place!

Haddock, that's our current project! A roll in to a nice big rock drop followed by another rock drop and then we have to clear a trail and loop it round and filter into the red at some point.
Definately a black option - I've stacked the Faith a few times off the first rock drop and now am struggling to ride it - it's the offcamber landing and root system that we need to clear out thats giving me the fear I reckon.
We'll be working there on Sunday, so if anyone's passing come and say hi!

Looks sweet col, It will ride fast when the run out is finished. Good little section now that them 3 crap jumps are not there.

The only issue we have with it is filtering in the option to avoid collisions as its currently a bit blind for both riders on the black and red parts of the trail until the last moment where the trails should meet.
But we'll find a solution somehow

Fingers crossed for a decent day for digging tomorrow
