    I have ordered an item from Evans for £350. They state they will not have stock of this item till 22/01/2015, which is fine as not in a rush. However, they have already taken the money, which given the amount seems a bit off.

    I assume this is all within their rights to do so?

    Note: Obviously, I would have ordered elsewhere, and still might, but had some Evans vouchers to use up.

    Two months delay – is that all? I had worse than that On One occasion 😉

    I think that as long as they have stated when you can expect to receive your goods they can take payment. However, if you don’t receive your goods by that date they are in breach on contract.

    If they’re getting something in specially for you, paying up front and waiting is normal.

    If it’s a normal stock item on back order the distance selling regulations used to say 28days was the max you should wait if you paid up front. Things may have changed though.

    @John

    I believe it’s a stock item, and it’s just Shimano/Madison running late on deliveries.

    Oddly, they seem to have removed even the possibility of pre-ordering now.

    Looks like a phone call might be in order.

    That’s a bit much for me tbh, just another reason to not buy from Evans imo
