Shouldn't be a problem to take it on board. Almost guaranteed to have a problem if you check it in (theft or damage). On some airlines a laptop (but not necessarily the bag, wires etc) is in addition to your normal hand baggage allowance.

It's fine. You'll need to take it out of your bag to be scanned and some airports want you to power it up.

Just make sure you don't rub it in semtex

Nae Problem… but put your name on it in big letters on the front to try and stop the eejitt in front of you with the identical laptop walking off with it… happened to me at Luton, got it back in the end fortunately!!!

Always. Don't trust checked baggage for anything delicate. You might be asked to switch it on though, just in case you spent £1500 on a Macbook Pro and then hollowed it out for semtex.

yeah well it as a macbook and i'd rather not take it if they won't allow me but it sounds fine.

My laptop was swabbed and tested positive for explosives in Chicago 🙂

They just took my name and passport number before they let me carry on.
