    Got an external drive and want to sync / back up photos, my docs and my music basically.

    Photos and my docs seem fine (folders and files) but the music backup is just a pile of empty folders.

    Where am I going wrong?

    using sync back software.

    Are you using SyncToy ? That has a habit of leaving empty folders. Version 2 seems better though
