Now I've got a fair idea of mt way round just wonder if there is an etiquette to Swinley???

I know nothing is marked but I've always thought some stuff could be ridden both ways and some stuff is common sense.

Tank traps = 1 way ending by concrete
Labyrinth = 1 way top to bottom
Stickler = Either way as it's flat
Seagull = Either way as it's flat

    Anybody know??

The 5 Rules of Swinley Trail Etiquette –

    1) If there's a puddle on some singletrack, ride round it until said singletrack is 14 feet wide.

    2) Always take waaaaay more bike than you need – 6 inches at both ends should be considered a minimum.

    3) Skidding to a stop is compulsary.

    4) Arrive at a peak time of day and grumble when you can't find a parking space

    5) Find it unbelieveable that you've just been passed, uphill, by a fat bloke riding a singlespeed and swearing.

    8)

Always go straight through the middle of puddles. I am northern, I've never understood riding a MTB and not wanting to get muddy??? 😀

'tis Shocking how wide some of the trails are.

in fairness, I try not to swear too much and when i do it's under my breath mainly.

    {it's OK, i know you're not talking about me – I never pass anyone, particularly uphill}

I'm currently building a 1992 Cindercone as a SS. Fully rigid and V-brakes. Should cost me about £170 all in.

I may take it to Swinley and give MBR clones a heart attack. 😉

I tend to avoid going through the middle of puddles in well-worn trails mainly because I can't tell how deep they are and I'm not that fond of going over the bars. I don't think it's a Southern thing, I've got no problem getting muddy…

If you go through the puddles in 1 handed wheelie stylie this won't happen.
