Trying out different ways of mounting my little GoPro camera on a ride round Peaslake area. Sure lots of you will recognise some of these trails too.

Is it my Pc or is that really choppy video?

good vid and fantastic for getting points of reference (wheels frame etc) in the shots makes it great to watch

Is it my Pc or is that really choppy video?
Yes I agree, and sped up as well, which possibly doesn't help. I like some of the mounting points though, the seat tube and the rear-facing seat post mounts are good!

Is it sped up, looks fairly normal speed to me?
Got about 20 clips from swinley the other day and keep meaning to edit them together but not got arround to it.

njee20 - the vid is not sped up.
joolsburger - The choppiness is possibly your computer, or possibly your connection speed. It looks smooth on Vimeo to me here.
It's obviously been compressed from the original though and Vimeo adds another layer of encoding when you upload so it's not as smooth as the original file. I've never been sure whether Vimeo changes it to 24fps by default, which can add a certain amount of crapness when the original is 29.97 as it was here.

smooth here - apart from my crash (which still hurts
)

even after watching some really well made videos i very rarely get a smile put on my face the minute they start but your video made me grin like a muppet.
Probably because the music/slowed nature at the start and then jumping into the riding reminds me of how i like to ride and also the trails are 'everyday' trails not stupid 6ft jumps.

Certainly looks sped up, I must admit I only watched the first minute, the juddering annoyed me, but it didn't look to be real time.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Those that are experiencing jumpy video should turn HD off.
Like it. The bar mounted stuff looks best IMO, but liking the mix of views.Posted 1 year ago # -
Nice.

I do sometimes think people with chest mounts need to mount them lower looking up more so you can see whats coming up a bit more. when they slip down and are looking at the handlebars its annoying.

Cheers all. I'm not making any great statements about riding or film making here. Just showing some alternatives to the headcam option on some nice flowy singletrack with some mates. The GoPro mounts are quick enough to switch about during a break in riding so you can come back with a better variety of stuff.
And it's always amusing to watch your riding buddies hitting a tree.

Very nice, love those kind of trails.

yesiamtom- agree completely. Chest mount needs to feel like its almost pointing at your face when you're standing up. I got it wrong this time and have 10 minutes of my bars to watch.

Like the bit on ladies legs, reminded me to head over there this week!
Good video of our crappy southern trails that are nowhere near as good as our northern chums have on their doorstep.

njee20 - it's not sped up. The camera is very low on the bike. This does, I hope, make it feel quicker than attaching to a helmet. That's kind of the point.
Posted 1 year ago # -
joolsburger - which one do you call 'ladies legs'?
Posted 1 year ago # -
Dammit, I was hoping for a shot of the air ambulance at the end! I recognised a couple of those routes and I've hardly ridden over that way - seemed to chop from one trail to another though which was a little confusing, but some good camera angles and a nice 'having fun on a bike' feel to it.

Great vid. The trails up there are so dry and fast at the moment you almost have to get out to ride them.
I loved the rear shot coming down telegraph rode. Looks very cool.

Forgot to ask, which model of goPro is it?
Posted 1 year ago # -
retro83 - Its the GoPro HD Hero. With the Ride Hero bar mount stuff and the 'Chesty' harness bondage gear.

Great vid , smooth for me , whats the tune ?
Posted 1 year ago # -
Its 'Swoon' from the new Chemical Brothers album.

njee20 - it's not sped up.
Yes sorry, I wrote my second post before you'd confirmed it wasn't. It looks good, still jerky here though for some reason, unwatchable with HD on, never had that problem before here!

Very nice vid, looking forward to enjoying those dusty trails myself tomorrow... But...
Surrey Hills on hardtails? Not the done thing my good man, you NEED 150mm full suss for sure
And wot no BKB?Posted 1 year ago # -
Ladies legs is the one where you ride over the bifurcated tree. It's probably called something else. Lovely traail though especially the last few hundred yards where it goes into the pine wood.

Excellent use of bifurcated. I had to look it up. We've always called that one 'Christmas Pudding'.
Posted 1 year ago # -
great vid, makes me want to ride which is how i rate a video,
The trail with the split tree is commonly known as christmas pudding.
Posted 1 year ago # -
so called cos when we built it, it was xmas and there was snow on the ground
Posted 1 year ago # -
They all have so many names, I'd still like to know who the hell Barry is?
Posted 1 year ago # -
That trail was always called just 'The Reservoir Trail' until Barry showed up.
Posted 1 year ago # -
xmas pud- where does that start then?
Posted 1 year ago # -
Xmas Pud = Orange Clawhammer. Tree looks like a clawhammer dun't it?
