going on me hols soon and looking for some new sunglasses that i can also wear on me bike.

Looking at spending £50 to £100, had a look at oakleys just wondering what else is out there and the best/cheapest place to get them from

    Cheers in advance

I’ve had some Oakleys for about 6 years now. They are pricey, but I doubt I’d have kept some cheapo ones for so long, and if I average it out over £ per use now, it’s not too bad. I’ve got Halfjackets which are handy as you can swap the lenses for rainy days etc.

Not sure on cheapest places as I got mine from my LBS.

I have some new and unused Oakleys I need to be get rid of (pair each of Radars and Enduring Edges, and a polarised pair of Scalpels).
Long story short I thought they’d make nice presents, but there’s no accounting for taste!

    Alternatively these are cheap:

Though if I was going on my hols I’d be tempted to take something ‘disposable’…

Have a look here, good prices, if it’s what you’re after.

I’ve always found Bloc are good for the money.

I don’t think I’ve ever bought a pair of shades back off holiday. EVER! I either sit on them or leave them in the pub. My last set, some lovely new Bloc’s, lasted a full 5 days from purchase to ‘left on the bar in Morzine’ 🙁

Always worth trawling your local TK Maxx. I got a pair of nice Arnette shades for about £25, which are very nice BTW.

If I was going to pay megabucks, I might go for some of these pimpy POC glasses…

But I can’t spend more than £25 on glasses, because sod’s law says I would lose or scratch them instantly.

For fairly disposable ones that don’t cost the earth, Decathlon have varying levels of cheaponess some of which don’t look too bad even including some photochromic ones. I’m with binners on this one, I have lost so many pairs of sunnies it is a running joke with my riding mates and although I have managed to hang on to an excellent pair of Evil Eyes, I usually take Aldi’s best on trips away.

…what about the Bolle safety ones?

I’ve got Bolle wrap-arounds, really like them & have stood up to lots of abuse over ~8years.

As above – got a pair of Oakleys but rarely use them.

Use a pair of Bloc Shifter normally and Bolle or Aldi if it’s really muddy as I’m not bothered if they get scratched

This place is the cheapest I found Oakleys http://www.body-armour-protection.co.uk/buy/oakley-si-flak-jacket-sunglasses.html

I ended up getting a pair of transition Oakley Flack Jackets from elsewhere (can’t remember where, were something like £115), but if you are happy with the SI military frame, basic lenses, and no case, that is the place to go.

I did get a set of clear lenses from them. They take a while, I’d say something like 21 days, but they are reliable.

Id go Oakley everytime. They are expensive but I think they look nice and are definately worth the wonga, they are just so comfy especially in strong sun. Arnette are cool shades though.

All you Oakley wearers – have you actually ever tried any of the other good quality brands which aren’t cheap but are half the price of Oakleys? I’m less than convinced they’re less comfortable or that you look any more of an idiot than you do in Oakleys. Personally I have Spiuk sunglasses (and got my current set in a sale for the same price as cheapy Madisons etc.)

Oakleys won’t fit behind my ears, the arms are too thick and bowed. Anyone else encounter this?

It depends on the arms on them, an early pair of their specs I had cut into my temples, so I was careful to get ones with a flatter arm/head interfacing but this time round.

We have Ryders and Tifosi in the shop. Go down really well with customers. Many shops will do Tifosi, fewer will do Ryders.
