My beloved old Samsonite, Sammy, has become a little like the Black Knight.

One of his feet was smashed off somewhere the other day. One of his wheels has gone rather wonky. In short, he's nearing retirement. Not bad for 15ish years or frequent [s]abuse[/s] travel.
Thought I'd treat myself to a new bag, and Samsonite were at the forefront, but just saw Briggs and Riley, a brand I've not heard of before. More expensive than Samsonite, cheaper than Tumi and.....
If your Briggs & Riley bag is ever broken or damaged, even if it was caused by an airline, we will repair it free of charge.
Rather compelling!
Anyone heard of them? Owned/used one?
This is the one in question - Linky
Big with American travellers. All the top execs at my company seem to use them. I quite fancied one but was put off by the price. Build quality seems high; although there is a very wide range of products from the more basic ones to the super duper Tumi level products.
My contact at Case Luggage says they're good.
If i was/were (?) in the market for more luggage i would be tempted by their repair promise.
I have one piece of Tumi which is (just) carry-on size; i wouldn't entrust that to the tender mercies of baggage handlers despite it's quality construction.
Thanks both. Interesting comment about Americans. Most of my flying is to/from/around the US at the moment and I either see American Tourister (look cheap, couldn't live with the name!) or Tumi (Seem too expensive for me. Lot of US colleagues have Tumi and they look as tatty as Sammy at 15ish after a couple of years use as carry on. Sammy gets checked in a lot and stayed looking good way longer. ) Rimowa is for poseurs.
This looked really good. Nice organisation and compression etc, and that warranty is really appealing. Just can't be sure if it's £150 better than a Samsonite.
Shameless bump for the weekday crowd.
CFH - I'm surprised you didn't know that those of the weekday crowd who could comment are otherwise engaged:
- the treasury tag trienniale in trieste
and
- the suitcase summer seminar in surbiton.
As an aside - why are you not attending either of these?
I know they don't offer the same frisson as attending Profesional Paperclip but you could expand your network.
Back to your original post....
Brics? No, me neither.
