    reasons they are not coming.
why **** bother posting to say ‘i am not coming cos my wife has a ingrowing toenail, so i need to look after her. so have fun’.
if you CAN NOT go do not bother replying.

Similarly, why do people post crap threads with no other point other than to have a rant about some other people they don’t know doing something they don’t necessarily agree with?

It’s an internet forum. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO READ IT IF YOU DON’T WANT TO!

As Drac says, out of politeness.

If I was to suggest a trip to the pub I’d much prefer people said ‘I’d like to come but can’t for whatever reason’ than nothing at all.

I got into mountain biking because of the brilliant excuses used!

You considered that some people actually know these people in the real world rather than just the virtual world and are being polite.

They might also be posting up to signal they have heard about it and would normally consider it but can’t attend on that occassion.

I don’t see what the problem is.

I have more an issue with people saying “Why are people different to me – I can’t understand it??? They should all be acting how I act!!!”

    bushwacked, not a problem mate.
i just dont see the point thats all.
i am probably wrong, i usually am.

i organise a few rides myself and usually get a good response, but do not see the point of people posting to tell me they cant make it.
    i wouldnt.

On other websites I frequent, it’s just courteous when you acknowledge someone’s attempt to organise a ride even if you’re passing on it, and it also provides further discussion in case the decision is taken to reorganise the same ride but for a different date.

If it’s for a random meet of strangers, I wouldn’t bother.

We ride with friends on a Monday night at Delamere. It’s a regular ride with a lot of regular riders and some people who show up occasionally.

The main reason people tell us if they’re not coming is so that we don’t wait for them. They may be running a few minutes late and if they are we will wait for them. If we know they’re not coming we don’t wait. Simple!

The other reason is that they are our friends and we communicate with them. We like to know whether they’re going to watch the football or if they can’t make it because they’ve got man flu!

If you don’t like it I suggest you don’t read the posts 😉

i was refering to stw forum rides open to everyone on the forum, like the one at swinley or the one at inners/gt.
the monday rides at delamere i would think are attended by pretty much the same people week in week out.
    totaly differant imo.
