Need to get some new wheels and thinking of these (prob on hope hubs) as they are light and should be strong enough for general xc, also usefully wider than average for my WTB 2.24s. Am I right in thinking they can be used with normal tyres or are they tubeless only? Thanks

I've been looking at these – they're not tubeless-ready though!

You'll either need tubes or a rimstrip/tape and valve.

They are, however, supposed to be good with UST (tubeless) tyres as the rim wall has been redesigned to get a better seal.

i am using crest rims with non ust maxxis monorails, they work fine using just tape and valve, no burping issues yet. However if you want to run silly low pressures you will need UST tyres and maybe a rimstrip otherwise the tyre will burp or roll off the rim.
