Now I know this has been done before but it’s always worth an up to date version. I’m not an 18hrs on the lash finished off with a lap dance and a happy ending kinda guy so the standard weekend in Prague type thing is out. Also I have some friends who don’t like bikes (yeah, I know!) so a MTB weekend is out. So, let me have your reccomendations/ideas. Looking for something a bit interesting and not ridiculously expensive, have you been/seen/heard of anywhere that might be good? Been on any good stag do’s lately? Let me know.

Best I’ve been in was probably a camping weekend at Islay whisky festival.

Few I’ve been on, just for a few ideas…

    One mate,

Go karting then off to hotel, swin, then on the beer in a comedy club before going for a meal ( or was it the other way round) then a few more beers before going back to the hotel

    Other mate

Paint balling, pub, curry house home

    My one

Weekend in Belgium on the lash with a trip to Holland for a few hours then stop off in a French beer warehouse to overload the coach.

Not bad for a 1st idea grum. Although the Father in law to be lives on Islay and he’s a recovering alcoholic. What are the chances hey?

Stag do I organised for my mate:

    – Saturday at York races. Bit of a flutter and plenty of beer. Back to hotel then out for a curry and out on the lash.
    – Sunday was go-karting followed by bait and more beers.

trying to stay away from the standard paintball/quad biking/go karting type thing Luke. Quite like the idea of a comedy club though. Keep em coming.

Walk in from Kinlochhourn to Inverie for a weekend, fish off the pier, eat, drink and be merry at The Old Forge, take ferry to Mallaig, then train back to Glasgow.

Tiree, camp, hotel, winsurf, beach surfing (great fun). Drink, eat. Go by plane from Glasgow for superb views and its not expensive.

I know your against them…. but just back from the aforementioned typical stag in Liverpool. The best one I’ve been on, stag was dressed as HRH the Queen (proper expensive vintage outfit, mask, crown, etc..) and the rest dressed in black suits / ear piece as her security.

Was hilarious, highlight being an entire van of coopers pissing themselves laughing when he was royal waving to them as we held him upright / escorted him to the next venue….

Anyways my stag, we hired a barn in wales did a couple of BBQ’s and beers (weather was great) day 1 everyone went round cwmcarn in an all time slowest ever lap 3.5 hours I think, every single person (other than me) managed to fall off and have some sort of war wound / story of near death. Day2 was mountain mayhem near brecon, hovercraft racing and offroad buggies. Awesome. If you like that sort of thing.

Animal balloons sounds fun. How about kayaking down a river for a couple days stopping over e route, deliverance style. I know they do this on the river wyre

We did one with a 10quid charity shop challenge. Source your outfit for the rest of the day night from there. Chuck in mini golf or something a bit weird to get things going.

    I booked with these,

    http://www.maximise.co.uk/

We did comedy club, karting, off road buggies, and lazer clay pigeon shooting, along with entry into a casino and nightclub plus two nights stay at the Ramada hotel inc breakfast in Nottingham,, all for the princely sum of £150. Fantastic value and a great weekend.

Lots of other activities on offer as you don’t fancy the karting.

Sounds like a right hoot DT78. It’s not that I’m against it per se, more that if I want that sort of a night out I can do it whenever I want without leaving the town I live in. Hoping for something a little different for my stag. I do like the sound of hovercraft racing though, and kayaking down the river wye.

Are the invitees the muso types? Maybe a day or whole weekend at a decent music festival?

That way people who want to get wrecked all day can, whilst others can take a more relaxed approach and watch the acts or whatever.

    Mine was in Ambleside.

Stayed at the Youth Hostel for 2 nights.

Everyone had a choice of Go Ape, MTB trails or playing football.

Loads of pubs. One club. No trouble.

All done on a fairly tight budget.

My stag do will either be the Roc or L`eroica this year.It depends if I want French or Italian wine in mid October this year

I’ll put a wacky idea out there for you, how about having your ‘last day of freedom’ stag do, on your ‘last day of freedom’. Otherwise isn’t it kind of pointless? Bit like celebrating Christmas in June, or your birthday on some random day.

Best bit then, is when the wedding invites go out, anyone that asks “So, when’s the stag do then?”, you can reply “If you have to ask…”.

Tucker – if I was going down the “last day of freedom” route then I should’ve had it about 10 years ago. as it is I’m getting married in May, tradition allows me to have a “stag do”. Apart from that it’s a good excuse to get a few mates together, some of whom I’ve not seen for ages, and have a bloody good weekend together. I’ll reserve the night before the wedding for a couple of pints with a couple of mates meaning I don’t turn up to my wedding wankered and sporting an injury recieved whilst taking part in any stag do related high jinks. Nout wrong with that is there?

Indeed. I think I’m the last man in Europe to have done it the old school way – pub crawl the night before the wedding. Never again!

I thought about Machynlleth Comedy Festival for mine, plus there’s biking there of course and the Dyfi Enduro’s the same weekend.

    But all sold out now.

For mine, we planned a little bike ride round 5 pubs, (last putting food on for us)

all within 10 miles, with one epic hill (white horse bank North Yorks)

Great day, about 25 of us all in. we do it every year now.

Only cost what you where prepared Drink. So cost effective. Non cyclists loved it too.

How about a narrow boat holiday?

Not a stag do but a group of mates and I did a long weekend on the Birmingham and Worcester canal. It was great fun and you can stop off along the pubs on the way and have a night out when you moor up for the night if that takes your fancy.

    I’ve always fancied Oktoberfest too.

    ericemel

I did Oktoberfest for mine – was possibly the funniest 48 hours of mine life. A true nightmare to organise though.

Second choice was the Bull Run.

Munich has a few other festivals besides Oktoberfest – when we went there was one in the same place but about 1/6 of the size. Doesn’t really matter once you’re in a tent, and accommodation is much cheaper & easier to find at the other times of year.
