Im going to do this trip in late summer this year. I am undecided on what to do accomodation wise. Theres obviously YHAs and B+Bs. Would you book in advance or just turn up. Does anyone have any recommendations on places theyd stayed along the route before. Ideally i want it to be cheap and im looking at about 7 stops cheers. Any tips greatly recieved.

There are a couple of well established company's that will transport your tent and luggage for one point to the next and they can cover pretty much any campsites along the route + any amount of days.
Cant remember the actual cost but it works out much cheaper than B&B/Hostels I am sure.Google "coast to coast packhorse"

doing this with my best mate in May on our Bromptons - looking forward to it, best book into a B&B in advance.
there is accomodation advice/listings on the various c2c websites.

'Just turning up' is not often a wise move in the UK (unlike the Alps). I would work out your stages carefully and book in advance.

We're doing it in June, but over 5 days.
We've used the services of "Sherpa Van" to book accommodation and transportation. I really wouldn't advise just turning up as we've already found some of the places we wanted to stay full up.
Plenty of blogs on the internet from people who've done it previous, and getting hold of "The Wheelwright guide" as well.

We did it in 3 and a half days, carrying our own gear but staying in YHA and B&Bs. I know people have done it in less but 3 and a half were not easy days. our days were St Bees to Kentmere, Kentemere to Grinton Lodge, Grinton to Rosedale, (Half day) Rosedale to St Bees. The first day was the hardest then after that not too bad at all.
