Depends what shifting you prefer. Personally I’m running XX1 cassette with XTR M9000 mech and shifter because I hate the feel of sram shifters but want the wider range of 10-42

If you’ve got existing wheels with a non-XX1 compatible freehub, maybe XTR is the better option ?

SRAM cassette with XTR shifters for my money – ergonomics and reliability of Shimano with the range of SRAM. Personal though really.

Whichever you prefer.. I like everything about XX1 apart from the lack of multi way release, I tend to climb and pedal on flat with my hands on the brake bodies so like shifting up with my finger rather than thumb.

SRAM cassette wins with the 10t top gear.

I’d be waiting for Shimano to release the new wide-range XT cassette.

The postie has just delivered some M9020 pedals to my door. Shimano’s new XTR packaging is sublime ! That would make me buy all their groupset, although it’s too late, I’ve gone down the SRAM route for now….
