Think they are single use. Time for a chain splitter.

They are not designed to be taken apart.

I resorted to buying powerlink pliers. Seems they may be quick or power links but they’re not easy links! 😉

They can be. Just get one of them chain link splitting pliers. I reuse them a lot and have yet to die in a horrible chain link fail induced accident.

Get some link pliers from Superstar. (Too lazy to link, google is your friend) I use them all the time. They make short work of splitting 10spd power links and I reuse them all the time with no probs.

    As above.

    Get one of these:

Once removed, bin it & buy a KMC multi-use one:

    Job done 🙂

Using a pair of bog standard pliers across diagonally opposite corners normally does it for me.

I’ve undone & reconnected the same 10 speed power link 4 times so far, so I’m not sure about the ‘use once only’ claims either.

Use 9 speed ones. They work grand. (I use a clarks)

    I agree with Pinkster.

I would recommend using waterpump type pliers, I find it slightly easier.

To open bend the chain into an U shape, and squeeze diagonally the jaws of the pliers on the end of the side plates without the elongated hole.

To close squeeze diagonally with the jaws on the sides with the elongated hole.

I have reused mine plenty of times. A few rides ago the chain snapped, I was expecting it to be the quick link, but it was just one of the regular links, so I too think they can be reused!
