I would like to replace my SRAM front mech on my 2011 Spesh SJ FSR.
I thought it was a direct mount type the same as an E-type but with the E-type BB bracket carrier removed... however the mounting holes on the frame are further apart.
It seems SRAM do a specific model: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=55252 but I don't know what the industry standard name for this mount type is and nor can I seem to find an SLX or XT front mech with the correct mount.
All advice welcome!
If it's any help, Direct Mount is not the same as E-type without the bracket, Direct Mount being a standard, E-type being a different fitment from each manufacturer. Not sure about your bike, but Lapierre have a replaceable mount on some models for different make E-type mechs.
Email your nearest spesh distro I think you need a SRAM s3 direct mount but double check it's a more common direct mount standard and one that spesh use's. I have a s3 xo fd in very good condition that I will sell cheap if you want from oz email me. S3 is the shimano etype without the e-type bracket if that helps.
Confusingly Specialized have their own 'direct mount' DMD system, which is different from Shimano's direct mount system.
You need the specialized derailleur mount adaptor (plastic jobby about 3" x 1") which fits between the mech and frame mount holes giving you the extra 10-12mm so it fits (remember to tweak the adjust screws when fitted).
Not sure how much they are but your local specialized store will have one in. You'll be able to fit any E-type mech with the BB plate removed
[edit]
You cant really see it but its the bit attached with the left of the 3 bolts
Or a 9 speed e type and unscrew the plate
Schnor - thanks, that bracket is exactly what I'm after. I will email Spesh to get the part number
hey wurzel, did you ever get that part?
i need the same for my '08 pitch
noing!
Yep - my LBS rang Specialized and ordered it... the label on the bag says "Spec DMD Mount" and the barcode number is 91596813 (not sure if this is LBS or Spesh barcode)
