  • Sorry, it had to come.. a tyre question. Panaracer UST

So I've got this thing about Maxxis and Hutchinson UST tyres being the ones for me due to their toughness and punture resistance. Trouble is the Hutch I want are stupid prices and Maxxis ain't fat enough.

So Panaracer Rampage UST – how tough are they?
What about Kenda UST – tough enough for the Alps?

Or should I trust what I know?

    Any opinions welcome!

Well, that's the last tyre post for me then! 🙁

Och, now just hang on a minute lassie.

Did you know that you can use Panaracer PR tyres on UST rims with a wee drop of sealant? Not only are they cheaper than the UST versions, but they weigh about 200g less as well!

I'd stick with Maxxis though. 2.35 LUST High Rollers all the way in the Alps.

PR ust is a myth, only works on half the tyres for some reason

2.1 rampage ust here and loving them, faster than a 2.35 highroller grippier and bigger than a 2.1 and really predictable grip wet or dry

Well Paula, I'm a bloke and I'm definitely going to buy proper UST tyres.
sssimon – grip/speed wasn't really the question. Have you ever had a puncture with the Rampages?

nope but I'm not prone to punctures, tend to run them over 30psi

Haha, sorry DezB. Don't know why I thought you were of the female variety.

I liked the non-UST Rampages I had on a couple of years back. Not so sure about grippier than a High Roller though Si. As for the dress, what I can't remember didn't happen.
