  • Somewhere for business lunch and meeting in Bristol?

Got to travel down to Bristol next week for a meeting with myself and my boss and a vet we collaborate with who is coming up from Devon. Can anyone from lovely Brizzle recommend somewhere where we can have a reasonable lunch, chat, setup laptop and talk shop without fear of being kicked out once food has finished – so stay for a couple of hours afterward (provided we keep ordering coffee etc). Ideally near to Temple Meads as getting train down (my boss reckons its so she can work)

Aqua on the waterfront just along from my office should fit the bill, though I noticed today they appear to be having some refitting work done so best to check they'll be open. About 15 mins walk from the station, 5 mins in a taxi.

The Glass Boat just along the water is also great, though not sure about the sitting around for a few hours after the meal, they tend to be quite keen on getting rid of you once you've finished your meal.

If quality / choice of food is not so important, the Banco Lounge up on the Wells Rd (15 mins walk from station the other way) has free wi-fi and you can sit in there all day, no worries. It's a bar rather than restaraunt, hence food not up to standards of the other two I mentioned, but it's perfectly acceptable and it's a nice relaxed atmosphere.

If you want any more ideas pm me.

The Watershed in the centre does reasonable food and you can stay there all day, as many people seem to do – http://www.watershed.co.uk/info/cafe_bar.php.

Also the Arnolfini on the other side of the docks has similar opportunities but is quieter – http://www.arnolfini.org.uk/pages/cafe-bar/.

Another alternative 10/15 minutes the other way from the station on the Bath Road is the Bocabar at Paintworks – http://www.bocabar.co.uk/ and http://www.paintworksbristol.co.uk/

The other alternative would be the cafe at Mud Dock which is about 10 minutes walk from the station – and you could also pop downstairs to look at the bikes and gear they stock – http://www.mud-dock.co.uk/cafe/index.html.

Was going to suggest the Watershed but Philby's already done it. Reasonable food prices, free wifi, you could even take in a good movie at the end of the day. Probably my favourite establishment in Bristol.

The Bocabar's fine, but the only thing I'd say is that it's become a bit of a creche during the day – all the local Mums arrive in and if you're having a "business" type thing, it might not be the most conducive atmosphere – with loads of screaming kids running around. All that said, if it's later in the afternoon, when the kids have to go home for their naps, it's a grand spot…my local after all. No free wifi though.
