After a long time on a single speed i am out of touch with current gearie kit. Planning on going 1×10.

To go single ring on an slx double chainset (665)I am guessing any 104 bcd chainring will do it with short chainring bolts?

Best chainline with the single ring on inner or outer position?

Looking at the superstar narrow wide chainring. Cheapest option i have seen. Do they run/wear ok?

Yes 104 , I run mine on the ‘middle’ one but its a triple but I’d say that’s same as inner for a double

Superstar one works better and lasts longer than raceface one ime

I’ve just done the same. Using a Superstar nw ring. I couldn’t get any short chainring bolts in time for the weekend so I used the metal inserts from the bashguard and the original bolts. Inner position is best for chainline.

With a double chainset you won’t need short bolts as the standard ones are already short, I’m using a SLX double with a works components ring using the standard Shimano bolts.
