Being new to this no gear world, how much tension should there be in a SS chain when the bike has slot drop outs.

Whats a normal level of vertical movement 5-10mm?

As clubber is about to say 😀

Very roughly 1/2 inch up and down at the mid point but the key thing is that it never binds (you'll hear if it does)
