We were laughing at the BBC news people, out in big coats showing 'snowmageddon' with appropriate wordage of doom...and in the background you could see the grass through the snow.
They should have me on commission for those reports.

BBC Forecast said it was all done so I rode the 20 miles into work.

This wins the prize for most disturbing sentence of the week.

well I've had a great morning 😐 coming down a small hill, bout 5mph, qeueing traffic, snow falling and snow on the ground, applied the brakes gently, the car didn't stop and slow motion wallop into the fabia in front. My car is a 6 month old Octavia lease car, now with a smashed in headlight, wing, bumper and bonnet. Nice one. Fortunately the excess is just £150 and insurers are Aviva who are usually fantastic. No doubt I will fell the pinch around renewal. It's my birthday weekend as well. 😐 oh well, Happy Birthday.

Booooo! Bad luck Jekkyl, you won't be on your own today, saw a lot of blue lights this morning, and a fair few cars blocking side roads.

Hopefully they'll be gently on you, I pranged our lease car last summer just after renewal, it's hard holding my breath for 11 months.

Seems Aviemore is the only place with snow.

Watching the news would have you believe the end of days is imminent..

I watched the news last night. They just said there was some snow and there might be flooding. Nothing apocalyptic.

It's almost as if people exaggerate the news reports in their own heads, just so they can tear these imagined exaggerations down for their own satistfaction. Odd.

thanks Prawny, did you do your normal 20 cycle commute this morning & how was it?

edit: just saw your pics above. You cycled in? braver man than me.

Bit disappointing in East Yorkshire this morning.
I've been promised minimum 10cm by the media all week, all we got was about 1cm.

Still made for an interesting drive to work on the back roads! 😯
Probably all gone from the roads by now though.

I watched the news reports last night and they were talking of huge floods, heavy snow storms but as usual nothing happened.

Bit disappointing in Surrey - only got 2 inches. All frozen this morning so not pleasant to get about, walked son to school holding his hand as a struggle to stay upright. Only a few kids seem to have turned up - including the kids from a family we pass on the way over who were playing in the garden rather than going in.

Stupider rather than braver I'd say. I was banking on it turning to rain or stopping based on the Beeb's forecast but it didn't and there's no bail outs on my route.

I did think about tapping on the window of a couple of vans and asking if they'd got room, but didn't fancy my chances.

As does Dunblane, and a dusting at Stirling Uni, but we just don't shout about it like some... 😉

It looked like a mini blizzard for a short while here in North London. I'm WFH today so was going to take an early lunch and head out on the bike. Stopped snowing and it's barely settled anywhere

#disappointed

No, I sniffed up a roller £50 note. It gave me a headache.

Decent covering in the micro climate of NW Leicestershire today, couple of stuck cars but battled my way to lower ground and was welcomed into work like the hero that I am.

I can't decide if I just like looking at snow because it's novel and rare, or if it genuinely is lovely and interesting. But either way, I've spent a lot of today doing it.

We had a dusting in Fife. Some were more ecstatic than others to see its arrival

I love the look of deep snow, been a while since I've been able to have a good look at some though. It's ace when it smooths over all the square edges in the garden and no one walked in it yet.

More snow overnight here - another 6-8 cm I guess. Temps due to start climbing though. Could be as high as 4C tomorrow

Typical. Mrs Rusty has decreed a 700 mile round trip from Carmarthen to Leeds and back this weekend to see the latest grandchild, timed to hit the M62 at rush hour.
Snow tyres - check
Warm clothing - check
Suicide pill - check
